What is Multifactor Authentication (MFA)?

Multifactor authentication (MFA) will be required by all students when they activate their Microsoft 365 accounts with SDCCD. Multifactor authentication is a security process that requires users to provide two or more forms of authentication to verify their identity.

All accounts will be required to use an MFA.  In this case, you will choose from two options for your account:

  • The Microsoft authenticator app or any other authenticator app

  • Text or call your cellphone

If you do not have a cellphone, you can request a SafeID Token.
A Safe ID Token is:

  • Free to request

  • Can be picked up on campuses
