How to setup your student email and Microsoft 365?

Starting June 28th, 2023, all communications from San Diego Community College District (including messages from instructors) will be sent to your @student.sdccd.edu email address. Besides Microsoft Outlook (for student email), we will also be using Microsoft Office 365 to provide students access to cloud storage, and access to the Microsoft Office Suite of apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Students must be actively enrolled for the semester to be qualified for their SDCCD student email. Access will be removed once a student stops attending for 4 semesters consecutively.

  1. Go to http://myapps.sdccd.edu and click on “GO TO MYAPPS”.

You may also visit http://outlook.office.com/mail/ directly.

  2. In the “Email, phone, or Skype” field, enter your full @student.sdccd.edu email address
    (example: flastname@student.sdccd.edu).
For your email address, please refer to the email you received notifying you that your account has been activated.

    Click “Next” to continue.

Note: If you have a personal Microsoft account, be sure you choose the “Work or school account” type.

  3. In the “Password” field, enter your password.
Note: This is the same password as mySDCCD - your student portal.

  4. If you enter your password successfully, you’ll be prompted for more information.

    Click “Next” to continue.

  5. For security, you will need to set up your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This is a code that needs to be entered in addition to your password.

There are 3 ways to set up your MFA:

    1. Microsoft Authenticator (a mobile app that can be downloaded to your smartphone)
      For iOS (iPhone, iPad, etc.):

      For Android (Samsung, LG, etc.):

    2. Text and/or Phone Call

      1. Enter your phone number in the “Enter phone number” field, and select the option of either receiving a code through text message or, receiving a phone call.

        Click “Next” when ready.

Check the phone number you entered on the previous page, and enter the code that you received in the “Enter code” field.

        Click “Next” when complete.

    3. Other authenticator apps such as Google Authenticate or a key fob
(If you do not have access to a phone, you may be eligible to request a key fob to receive your MFA code. More information will be available soon.)

Note: If you want to use option b or c, click on “I want to setup a different method”.

  6. When successful, you should get a message informing you that your authentication method has been setup.

  7. You’re now logged in to myApps! To access your student email, click on Outlook.
