Business Process: Establishing Parent Relationship

Instructions:

This process is used to establish a parental relationship in Campus Solutions for PLUS loan processing.  The creation of the relationship from the student to the parent allows the parent bio/demo data to be pulled in for the related student’s ID.  This process involves two steps:  Creating the Parent ID and Establishing the Relationship.

Navigate to the Search/Match page.  To find the parent, use “Find an Existing Value” and use the search criteria provided. 

  • Search Type: select Person

  • Search Parameter: select SD_General

  • Click Search

In the Search Result Code field, enter SD_ALL_RESULTS

 Enter the following search criteria to locate the parent:

  • National ID

  • Last Name

  • First Name

Once those fields are complete, click Search

If the search does not return any results, a pop up message will appear indicating the Search Criteria did not return any results.  Proceed to Step 5.



If the parent is found, proceed to the Establishing a Relationship section.

Navigate to Add/Update a Person:  Campus Community > Personal Information > Add/Update a Person.

Click the Add a New Value tab

Click Add

NOTE:  Leave the ID field as NEW.  The ID number will be established when the bio/demo information is saved.

Enter the Borrower Information from the Federal Parent Plus Loan form into the following fields on the Biographical Details tab. 

  • First Name

  • Middle Name

  • Last Name

  • Date of Birth

  • Gender—select the appropriate gender from the meu

  • National ID

  • Address—select Mailing from the Address Type menu. Click Edit Address to enter the address

  • Phone—select Main from the Phone Type menu

  • Email—select Email from the Email Type menu

Click the Citizenship link.  Enter the following fields:

  • Country—Enter USA

  • Citizenship Status—from the dropdown menu, select the appropriate Citizenship from the Parent Plus Loan Form

When all information has been entered, click Save



Saving will generate an ID number.  The ID number will need to be notated on the Federal Parent Plus Loan form.

Navigation:  Campus Community > Personal Information > Biographical > Relationships > Relationships

Navigate to the Relationships page.  Check to see if a loan relationship already exists by entering the student’s ID number in the ID search criteria field under “Find an Existing Value”.  If a relationship already exists, you’re done.  If one does not exist, follow the steps below:

Click on the “Add a New Value” tab

Enter the ID number of the student.

Click Add

  • Enter the Parent’s ID number in the Related ID

  • Click Enter—this will populate the Name

  • Select Parent Guardian from the Guardian menu.

  • Click Save.
