The first step in the application process involves obtaining approval from the college where the baccalaureate degree program will be offered. The college administration, faculty, and governance groups including the academic senate and curriculum committee typically review and assess the proposed program and its viability. This evaluation ensures that the program aligns with the college's mission, resources, and strategic goals. This process shall be defined by the college.

  • Proposal is vetted through a defined college process.

The college needs to define this process. Consider:

  • Program viability, program review, program discontinuance;

  • Program funding and institutional capacity (e.g., instructional, student services, support services, facilities, technology, library and learning services); and

  • Local approval: Academic Senate, President's Cabinet, College Councils, Curriculum Committee
