2024-2025 New Student Spring 2025 Application 

San Diego City College Extended Opportunity Programs & Services (EOPS), CARE, and NextUp

TO APPLY TO EOPS STUDENTS MUST:

  • Must complete 2024-2025 (FAFSA/CA Dream Act Application).

  • Must be eligible the California College Promise Grant [CCPG] fee waiver).

  • Must be a California (CA) resident or AB540 to be eligible.

  • Be enrolled in at least 12 units (or 6 if you have a verification letter from DSPS).

  • Have less than 70 degree-applicable college units.

TO APPLY TO CARE STUDENTS MUST:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must be the parent or legal guardian of at least one child under the age of 18.

  • Must be receiving CalWORKs cash aid assistance for themselves and/or their dependent children.

  • Must be designated as single head of household by the County and reside in a single parent household.

  • Must be eligible for EOPS.

TO APPLY FOR NEXTUP STUDENTS MUST:

  • Must reside in California 

  • Be a current or former foster youth whose dependency or wardship was established or continued by the court on, or after the youth’s 13th birthday

  • Be under 26 at the beginning of the academic year or previously in a NextUp program.

 

Note: The EOPS 70 unit limit and financial aid requirements does not apply to NextUp students upon admittance to the NextUp program nor apply for dismissal from the NextUp program. 

Spring 2025 Application Deadline:  Friday, February 28, 2025. *CARE & NextUp application cycles are open year-round.

Applications may take between four to six weeks to be processed. Once processed, applicants will be contacted via email. Please keep in mind, time frame depends on each student’s situation, i.e. Pending transcripts, not enrolled in minimum required units, etc. Once you attend the EOPS New Student Orientation and complete and sign the MRC, it may take five (5) business days for you to begin to receive services.
